Based on a report from DigitalTrends, Youtube TV now supports 5.1 surround sound both for Apple TV and Fire TV a few months after the announcement of it being also available on Roku, Android TV, and Google TV.
The announcement on Twitter indicates that Amazon Fire TV's Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Stick Lite will also be included in the devices that will be supported by Youtube TV.
This audio is mostly used by professionals, especially film makers. The audio experience of users who have the access to this feature will be leveled up as Youtube TV brings a movie-theater-like experience in your own homes. This means that most of the major streaming platforms already support the 5.1 surround sound of Youtube TV. Unfortunately, iMore reported that gaming consoles are still in the works to include on the list.
What Does it Do?
When users have a stereo system that has more than the left and right speakers, Youtube TV will now control it by pumping audio channels individually from left, right, center, and even the rear speakers. This will be Youtube's big step on joining the market with advanced stereo audio.
Meanwhile, Dolby Atmos is still leading with its 360-degree approach rather than just the directional, however, Youtube TV is still a good option for users as per Apple Insider.

Youtube TV's Competitors
As of the moment, Youtube TV is the biggest live streaming service in the United States having more than 5 million subscribers. Hulu with Live TV is next on the list who currently have 4.1 million subscribers with almost 1 million behind to the leading.
Youtube TV's main and only plan offers 100 channels, with a good number of optional add-ons. A Spanish-language plan has also been introduced within the platform, which is an addition to the Spanish-language add-on.
9To5Google provided a list of currently available and compatible surround-sound devices which can be seen below:
Samsung + LG + Vizio devices with Cobalt 20 or above
Traditional Chromecasts
Android TV
Google TV
Roku Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick Lite, Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Stick 4K, and Fire TV Stick with 4K Ultra HD
Adding to this is the checking of the "5.1" channel logo to know if the device is applicable to work on the surround sound system. This is needed to be done for users to maximize their viewing experience with excellent audio quality.
