An Instagram new feature is being tested out that would allow users to clean up their explore feed. The feature also includes the ability for users to be able to bulk-label the content they see with "Not interested" and block certain posts with words, phrases, or emojis that were suggested.
Instagram is Releasing Two Ways to Help Users Get a More Customized Experience
Instagram is reportedly testing out two additional ways that allow the social media experience for users to be customized. As seen on an official post, it was stated that both of the features remain in the experimental phase.
Despite being in the experimental phase, it was noted that the features are being added in order to help make the platform easier for users to use. With the feature, users will be able to curate their feed through the process of eliminating unwanted content.
Users Will be Able to Mark Posts with 'Not Interested'
The first feature being added is the ability for users to mark numerous posts under Instagram Explore as "Not interested." As per Instagram, they will then immediately hide the posts in the future while avoiding showing users similar content.
According to the story by PC Mag, as of press time, in order to access this feature, users will still have to register their disinterest in certain posts or Reels individually. When within the Explore tab, users can easily long press a video that has been minimized and select Not interested.
How to Mark Posts with 'Not Interested' in the Explore Tab and Reels
Another way users can filter out content from the Explore tab is by opening the post and clicking on the three-dot menu. Once users are in the menu, they will have to click Not interested.
It was also noted that there is a way to reverse this action should users do this by accident. If users filter out content accidentally, they can still click on the undo option to reverse the action.
Users that are using the Reels tab will be able to click the three-dot menu located near a video and choose the Not interested option. After this, Instagram will then ask users to answer why they do not want the content to be shown.
The options users can choose from including the following:
"Seen too many Reels like it"
"Don't want to see clips with specific audio"
"Don't like the host account"
Video makes the user uncomfortable
Topic simply doesn't interest the user

Why is Instagram Prioritizing These New Features
Soon, Instagram will be adding the option to allow users to hide suggested posts that use different hashtags or captions, including certain words, phrases, or emojis. This new feature will help users avoid what they might find triggering, unhelpful, or even just boring.
As per Instagram, users will be able to use the feature to stop seeing content that the user might not be interested in.
