US Drone 'RangeHawk' to Test Hypersonic Missiles under SkyRange Program

The United States will soon test a new remote aircraft drone that will focus on developing hypersonic missiles and trying long-range weapons under the "SkyRange" project. Northrop Grumman's Global Hawks will offer its high-altitude, long-endurance system that would bring the payload for different use and requirements of the Department of Defense.

According to a press release by Northrop Grumman, it is now in partnership with the Department of Defense for its SkyRange project under the Test Resource Management Center (TRMC). Its Global Hawks that takes the skies to focus on a high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) vehicle that is capable of delivering payloads.

The company is already in the process of delivering the Global Hawks that the US military will transform into "RQ-4 RangeHawks," the drone aircraft that would soon help in its operations.

The RangeHawks would help test the military's payload delivery of the new hypersonic missiles and carry long-range weapons to support troops in areas that need them.

It is a massive drone that can sustain long hours of flight in high altitudes without needing to return to base for a significant time.

Northrop Grumman to Manufacture RangeHawk

According to Interesting Engineering, Northrop Grumman is providing a batch of its Global Hawks, which have been in the military for a long time now, and it will see its transformation as a RangeHawk through the United States military's tweaks.

The new aircraft would help improve the defense capabilities of the country and bring hypersonic missiles, along with long-range weapons technology, to its arsenal.

US Military' Defense Development

The country is massive in developing technology used for national defense, focusing on eliminating threats from foreign attacks that may come at unexpected times and moments. The US highlights the enormous importance of drones, particularly its recent advice to the European allies to develop its remote aircraft countering system.

Going hypersonic is the way to go, and this is what the United States has been developing for the past years for its aircraft, both in the crewed and uncrewed setup of the technology. Different companies are in partnership with the country for its development of hypersonic tech to bring advancement to its military ventures for future use.

The United States and Northrop Grumman are taking things to the next level with the new military drones that would help in surveilling the skies and remain there for the long haul. Additionally, it will help deliver a payload that will focus on hypersonic missiles and long-range weapons that would help improve the current technology available.
