Apple is now done with its testing for the iPhone 14's satellite connectivity ventures, according to the renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, with a possible hint on a new feature for the upcoming smartphone device. However, Kuo also claimed that it might not be present for the device's current release, as speculations are uncertain on this new tech's arrival.
Apple iPhone 14: Satellite Connectivity Done Testing
According to a Medium post by the famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Cupertino giant is already done with its hardware tests for the iPhone 14's satellite connectivity features.
Kuo also said that this is the iPhone 14's test items before its mass production, mainly focusing on satellite communications available for the device.
The analyst's survey update list different information behind the new satellite feature for the upcoming smartphone from the famous American company.
However, Kuo claimed that the arrival of the satellite communications feature would depend on the business model that Apple will set up with current service operators. Additionally, the feature would focus on emergencies only.
iPhone 14 Satellite Connections: Still Unsure
The hardware development for the satellite connections of the smartphone was already available since the iPhone 13, says Kuo in this recent report, but it remains unsure about its arrival for the iPhone 14. Nevertheless, the analyst said that it is hard to predict when the company will offer satellite connections to the device despite its availability in smartphones already.
iPhone and Satellite Connections
There were significant claims in the past year regarding Apple's new venture for the iPhone 13, and it is also Kuo that previously claimed that the 2021 smartphone would debut a satellite connection capability for the device. However, upon the device's debut last September, there were no mentions of the feature for its capabilities; as a result, scrapped this for the next device.
The iPhone's connection to a low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite is a significant feature boost for the device, as it does not rely primarily on terrestrial connections but also on those from space. It also means that users may use this during emergency situations and have fewer worries when losing cellular signal on a particular trip.
Satellite connections will hook users up to connect to a service despite being anywhere in the world, like known satphones available for the world.
It is important to note that there are no significant promises from leaks and speculations regarding this satellite connectivity feature from Apple, especially as most of its focus is for emergency use only. Additionally, there are no guarantees for this technology, even for the present, mainly as it may not be meant for the current device.
