Valve Is Giving the Steam App a Revamp, Features QR for Faster Sign-Ins

Currently, the Steam app available for iOS and Android is something that is not entirely ineffective, but you cannot really tell if the app makes any difference at all. The app obviously cannot run games from Steam but many users have been expressing that it cannot properly perform the tasks that it advertises to fulfill.

Users Complain about Various Steam App Issues

The Steam app can let users chat with Steam friends, browse community groups, and access user profiles. Also, the Steam app is supposed to update its user with the latest Steam-related news and Steam sales. Most users utilize the application as a faster way to authenticate their Steam logins.

The most popular reviews of the app in the AppStore are those complaining about its outdated user interface. People are criticizing how texts are sometimes seen to be overlapping other texts and images inside the app.

Some Steam users nitpicked issues like problems with chatting and notification, playing video files, and zooming in on images. And weirdly enough, the app received its latest update back in mid-2021.

There is a possibility that Steam users only bother to download the app to access Steam Guard or perhaps buy games.

Valve might have already heard enough about clamors concerning their app. Recent reports say that a Steam app redesign is now in the works

Valve Is Giving the Steam App a Revamp

A report from Engadget informs us that Valve is now in the works on making a new version of the mobile app. The video game company reportedly invited a number of Steam users to beta test its updated application.

These 'invested Steam users' according to Valve, are willing to give feedback about the recent changes that they have implemented on the Steam app. If you are willing to take part in the Steam app beta testing, check out this link to be updated about the recent developments in the project.

Valve also confirms that they have implemented a new framework for the app and modernized its design. Finally, users would no longer complain about layouts with weird sharp edges.

According to Valve, "You'll still be able to browse the store, get Steam Guard codes, and confirm trades, but now the app comes with QR code sign-in, smarter notifications, an improved Library, and multi-account support." This solves the problem of complicated sign-in procedures. Adding a QR code mechanism makes the process of signing in easier and faster without having to sacrifice account security.

A PC Gamer report tells us that the recent app beta testing will guide Valve in testing their assumptions about the app, learning the preferences of a sample size of their user base, and fixing issues that need to be addressed. The video game company also emphasized that they see it important that the app is available to many different devices.

The Steam app on the AppStore currently has over 50 million downloads and close to a million reviews, with a 3.5 stars rating.
