iPad Production at Foxconn is Back to Normal Once Again After the Worst Chinese Heatwave

Foxconn resumes iPad manufacturing in Sichuan province.

China has recently experienced the worst heat wave that hit the country in the past 60 years. The disaster forced the government to shut down the iPad plant located in the southwestern Sichuan province.

After a few weeks since it happened, Foxconn decided to reopen the production factory once again. The operations are back to normal, as well.

For the past two weeks, China has suffered from the hottest condition, which prompted the country to close several plants. At the time, Apple's supplier Foxconn was one of the firms that were hit by the heatwave.

To conserve electrical power, the local government ordered the companies to halt their operations temporarily.

The production was ordered to be stopped from Aug. 15 until Aug. 20, per Apple Insider. However, the shutdown reportedly ended on Aug. 25. It was extended for seven days and exceeded over 70 days in total.

The authorities have not yet determined the scale of impact of the heatwave on iPad production.

The latest story from Nikkei Asia suggests that Foxconn has resumed iPad production.

"The Chengdu plant of Foxconn, which assembles iPads for Apple, began to operate at normal capacity again on Thursday, a person close to the factory confirmed. Authorities appear to be supplying Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, with power on a priority basis, taking into consideration the economic impact on the region," the report says.

What's Next for the iPad Maker?

According to a report by 9to5Mac, Apple is now preparing for the upcoming event on Sept. 7, where it will officially reveal new products, including the next-gen iPhone series, as well as the Apple Watch variants.

Although the Cupertino giant is getting closer to unveiling more information about the iPhone 14, some products might not be mentioned during this time.

As such, the Apple October event could be the perfect time to discover some details about the new iPad/Mac. There could be two new iPad Pro variants that will arrive along with a 10th-gen iPad base model.

In connection to this, Tech Times reported that Apple might be on the verge of releasing the 2022 MacBook Pro. Some reports claim that the M2 Pro and M2 Max are currently in development.

At the same time, we might hear another series of interesting news about the new iPhone lineup, including their colors, features, and other capabilities.

The speculations that are circulating online hint that their pre-order schedule will start on Sept. 9. If this is true, customers will be able to place their order by next week.
