The rumored Amazon EA acquisition is now making headlines. For the past few years, many companies wanted to buy the whole Electronic Arts company because of its popular games and other services.
But, Amazon's offer is among the most intriguing since if the e-commerce giant really did acquire Electronic Arts, it would be one of the largest video game acquisitions in the industry.
As of writing, Amazon's alleged EA deal is still not yet confirmed. However, people familiar with the retailer's activities claimed that the e-commerce would clarify the acquisition on Aug. 26.
Rumored Amazon EA Acquisition
According to EuroGamer's latest report, Amazon is already set to announce the most-awaited EA acquisition.
But, this will remain speculation until the e-commerce giant announces the deal itself.
Of course, Electronic Arts said they are not commenting on any speculated M&A (mergers and acquisitions).
"We don't comment on rumors and speculation relating to M&A [mergers and acquistions]," said an EA spokesperson.
The alleged EA acquisition is believed to be a smart move of Amazon since it can take advantage of EA's content, making them among their new shows.
These include "Dragon Age," "Deep Space," "Mass Effect," and many more.
EA's Stock Surges
MarketWatch reported that Electronic Arts stocks are now facing drastic increases. This happened after some GLHF sources claimed that Amazon would announce its EA acquisition.
Because of this, EA's shares soared around 14% on Friday, Aug. 26. The sudden Electronic Art stock surges are now being compared to effects created by Microsoft's recent Activision Blizzard acquisition.
Aside from Amazon, there were also other companies that were allegedly interested in buying EA, such as Apple and Disney. Since their rumored deals didn't happen, there's also a chance that Amazon's EA acquisition will also not push through.
