Apple's iPhone 14 Pro is likely ditching the notch once it debuts this September as rumors predict.
And now, the new patent of the Cupertino-based phone maker showcases how the renowned tech giant plans on doing it.
iPhone 14 Pro: Apple's Patent Shows How it Ditches the Notch
As per the latest news story by The Verge, early predictions of the upcoming high-end iPhone 14 series, such as the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, say that it would be ditching the notch.
While the lower-end options from the upcoming iPhone 14 series are still expected to flaunt the notch, the more expensive "Pro" options are likely to be notch-less.
The online tech news outlet reports that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has recently published a new patent application straight from the iPhone maker.
And this new patent filing gives us a glimpse of how the first-ever notch-free iPhone could likely look.

iPhone 14 Pro with No Notch?
In lieu of the notch, which houses a few sensors and the selfie camera, Apple is rumored to replace it with a pill-shaped cutout.
But aside from the pill cutout, it also comes along with a small circle, which houses the selfie camera similar to most Android smartphones these days.
According to a recent report by 9to5 Mac, the notch design of iPhones, which first saw the light of day in 2017 as Apple debuted the iPhone X, fits a couple of components. It includes the selfie snapper, speaker, and microphone of the mobile device.
On top of that, it also includes a few sensors, including a proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor. Not to mention that it also houses an infrared camera, a flood illuminator, and a dot projector.
So it looks like the notch is pretty much stuffed with too much tech, but Apple still managed to make it smaller when the tech giant introduced the iPhone 13 series.
Apple Patent Shows How to Ditch the Notch
But this time, a new patent suggests how Apple is working to remove the notch design in favor of a pill-cut look.
The patent now suggests that the Cupertino giant is planning to use a "light-flooded projector," which it says could "reduce the footprint of the imaging and sensing components."
However, The Verge notes that the patent application of Apple does not necessarily mean that it would get the shimmer of the spotlight in the next iPhone launch.
