T-Mobile has been aggressive with its mobile services by competing with rivals like AT&T and Verizon, but now, it seems like the company has a larger chip to use. The company is inviting carriers around the world to partner with them in order to receive reciprocal roaming.
T-Mobile CEO Announced the Partnership with SpaceX Starlink
In a recent SpaceX + T-Mobile Update event which was live streamed on YouTube, T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert detailed how SpaceX's Starlink will be integrating the company's mid-band PCS spectrum, which will be launched through Starlink's satellites in 2023.
The CEO then described this as like having a cell tower in space, and after explaining what the technology will potentially be able to achieve, they then gave a formal invitation to carriers around the world to join them.
T-Mobile Announces Plans of Partnering with Global Carriers for Reciprocal Roaming
Instead of competing against other carriers around the world, T-Mobile is inviting them to partner with the company in order to receive reciprocal roaming. Sievert announced that if there were carriers around the world that want to do what they are doing with the mid-band spectrum that is dedicated to SpaceX's Starlink constellation, T-Mobile will be able to offer them reciprocal roaming.
Sievert then explained what would happen to say that when people using different carriers from other places in the world decide to visit the United States or off the grid, they can still stay connected. Likewise, Sievert said that when Americans decide to travel the world, they can also still keep their connection.
T-Mobile CEO Announced Their Vision and Dreams of Ubiquitous Global Connectivity
The T-Mobile CEO announced that their vision and their dream is "ubiquitous global connectivity" saying that they aren't hosting the event to announce a product but rather a technology alliance.
The most shocking announcement which gained a lot of cheers from the crowd was when the CEO announced that they will be using this technology and giving it to users for free. Sievert then said that they are very proud to be partnering with SpaceX, the company they know is well equipped and prepared to handle the size of the vision.

Beta of the Technology is Expected to Come in Late 2023
With the collaboration of SpaceX's Starlink and T-Mobile, the latter will be enabling their technology on the upcoming Starlink satellites. As for the availability of the service, the beta version is expected to come out as soon as late 2023.
Although this might seem to take a while, given the scale of the technology, concept, and the fact that it has not yet been done before, the timeline is still quite forgivable. Fans of both SpaceX and T-Mobile still have to wait for more details regarding the progress of the project within the upcoming months or some time next year.
