Downgrading to iOS 15.6 is no longer possible, as confirmed by Apple. The tech giant manufacturer announced that it would no longer sign the older iPhone software.
This is not the first time that Apple has done this. Previously, the gadget maker also halted signing the older iOS 15.5 after the iOS 15.6 was released.
Of course, many users were disappointed since they preferred the previous systems because they had fewer bugs and other issues.
Stopping iOS signing for predecessors is no longer new for Apple. In fact, this activity has been a habit of the tech giant developer for the past few months.
Downgrading to iOS 15.6 No Longer Possible
According to MacRumors' latest report, Apple launched the new iOS 15.6.1 on Wednesday, Aug. 17. After a few days, the iPhone creator confirmed its plan to halt the iOS 15.6 signings.
This means that users who decide to upgrade their iOS device to the latest system version can no longer return to the software's predecessor.
The new iOS 15.6.1 offers the features that the iOS 15.6 is integrated with, such as rewind, fast-forward, restart, and pause functions.
But, Apple said that the newer version has critical security enhancements needed to solve the annoying Webkit and kernel flaws, which hackers can use to conduct arbitrary code executions.
The tech giant firm explained that it stops signing older iOS versions to encourage users to maintain their system upgrades.
Should You Upgrade
Of course, there's one thing you can do to maintain the recent iOS 15.6. This is to avoid upgrading to the newer version.
But, Forbes reported that it will still benefit users more if they install the latest iOS software version. One of the main reasons you should do it is the fixes that the new iOS 15.6.1 offers against zero-day vulnerabilities.
Upgrading to iOS 15.6.1 can prevent hackers from using these flaws to execute harmful codes that can breach your iPhone.
