According to a report by Kotaku, Denuvo has unveiled its plans to market an anti-piracy product aimed at stopping illegal Switch Games.

The company revealed "Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection" during the recently-held GamesCom 2022. This software will take control of unofficial PC ports for the Switch-based titles.

"Even if a game is protected against piracy on its PC version, the released version on Switch can be emulated from day one and played on PC, therefore bypassing the strong protections offered on the PC version. This can happen with any of the numerous games available on Switch," Denuvo said in a statement.

Of course, it's good news for Nintendo since they could regain their lost profit from piracy. However, this is a turnaround for the developers creating pirated games and emulators.

Denuvo says that in the future, other gaming platforms will be able to use the anti-piracy protection it is currently offering.

If the plan goes smoothly for Switch, the Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection could be a big help for the gaming firms and developers legitimately producing titles for the masses.

There's one thing that Denuvo needs to accomplish before it declares success on its latest software. The company hopes that the anti-piracy technology will run flawlessly on the system, particularly on the part of the players.

Additionally, the pioneer of the DRM technology cited that you can insert checks into the code so it could block the emulator gameplay right away.

Some Users Dislike Denuvo's Anti-Piracy Initiative

Although Denuvo proposes a very good idea that will suppress the widespread piracy on the Switch games, some people can't get over the fact that the company could only make things worse for Nintendo.

Based on PCMag's report, some consumers have not yet restored their faith when using the anti-cheat technology because of its bad reputation in the PC community.

According to some users, the tool only slows down their games, thus bringing severe technical issues to the computers. This is the reason why some studios decided to cut ties with Denuvo. Even so, the backlash has ignited complaints from other PC users who experience game glitches, sudden game shutdowns, and other problems.

In other news, "Kirby" and "Smash Bros." creator Masahiro Sakurai launched his own channel on YouTube last month. The Japanese designer developed this idea to help aspiring game developers understand the basic concepts and theories behind game creation.
