After Facebook rebranded itself in 2021 as Meta, it became a metaverse company. Of course, Meta also rebranded all of the company's VR hardware.
Many headset owners began their adventure with an Oculus account linked to their Oculus Quest headsets and were forced to migrate.
Some users bought in after the change and had to use a Facebook account. Now, you may find yourself in the Meta VR ecosystem. You can unlink your Facebook account from the entire thing and use a separate Meta account by itself.
Unlink Your Quest From Facebook
To be able to switch over from logging into your Quest hardware with Facebook to log in with a Meta account, there are a few hoops that you have to jump through, according to HowtoGeek.
Before you proceed with the switch, it is best to have your Facebook login handy and your Quest hardware charged and updated to the latest firmware.

Unlink Your Facebook Account and Create a Meta Account
You need to visit Meta's setup page. Login with your Facebook account, and you will be directed to Facebook.
Next, you will be prompted to accept Meta accessing your Facebook account. Then click "Continue."
Once you're done, you will be prompted to set up a new Meta account by migrating it away from your Facebook account. The email address linked with your account will be displayed there. Choose "Next" to confirm.
If you have not used or updated your Oculus devices in a while, you may be prompted at this point to update your VR headset. If your VR headset is up to date or you have just updated it, click "Continue."
You will be prompted to continue the setup of your Meta account by continuing with or without Facebook, according to Mashable.
To completely permanently remove the link between your VR headset and your Facebook account, select "Continue Without Facebook."
You will be prompted to create a new password for your Meta account, as you will no longer be using your Facebook account to authorize access to your verified Meta account.
Once you've created a password, a 6-digit security code will be sent to your email, according to Android Authority.
After typing in your new password, you will be prompted to review your account data, including your name, email address, and date of birth.
Setting Up Your Horizon Profile
Once you've confirmed the account settings, you must set up your Horizon profile. You will retain your old username, and this name is strictly for your Horizon profile.
Next, you will be prompted to set your privacy settings for your Horizon account. You can choose between "Open to everyone," "Friends and Family," and "Solo."
Choose "Review" to review your privacy settings, and then choose "Accept and continue." You can review and change the settings at any time in the future, so you can choose whatever privacy settings you're more comfortable with.
