Twitter merges its spam bot and misinformation teams shortly after its former head of security, Peiter "Mudge" Zatko, claims that the social media giant has persisting bot and security problems.
On top of that, no less than the Chief Executive Officer of the microblogging service, Parag Agrawal, has defended the tech giant to its workforce in a recent internal email.
Twitter Merges Spam Bot, Misinformation Teams
As per the latest news report by Engadget, the giant social media platform is now merging both its service team with its health experience team, which particularly addresses both toxic and misinformation content.
The online news outlet further notes that the Twitter service team specifically looks into reported profiles, as well as the spam bot accounts on the microblogging service.
These two teams on Twitter, which serve seemingly related issues on the social media platform will now be collectively known as the all-new Health Product and Services team, or shortly HPS.
According to a recent report from Reuters, Twitter tasked the former Amazon and Google employee, Ella Irwin, to lead the new combined team.
Twitter Health Product and Services Team
The head of HPS has reportedly revealed the priorities of the newly formed team on the social media platform.
No less than Irwin tasked the whole team to "ruthlessly prioritize" their tasks, saying that "we need teams to focus on specific problems."
The memo further highlights that this time they would no longer "be operating in silos." And instead, they would now work "together as one team."
The spokesperson of Twitter has confirmed the latest development on the social media platform to Reuters.
The Twitter spokesperson says that the move "reflects[the company's] continued commitment to prioritize, and focus [its] teams in pursuit of [its] goals."
However, Reuters reports, citing its unnamed sources, that the harmful content teams of Twitter are facing multiple departures of employees recently.
And as such, it appears that the combination of these two related groups could help in maintaining key positions without needing to hire from outside.
Ex-Twitter Security Head Claims
The latest reshuffling notably comes as the social media giant is in hot water after its former head of security has filed a whistleblower complaint against Twitter.

The Twitter logo is seen at their headquarters on April 26, 2022 in downtown San Francisco, California.
Engadget reports that the complaint assesses that the social media giant has "extreme egregious deficiencies" in tackling security.
But what's more, the ex-Twitter security head also alleges that the platform prioritizes its growth instead of getting rid of spam-bot accounts.
