Gogoro has reached a significant milestone as they reached half a million subscribers for their battery swap network, as reported by Electrek. The company produces a wide range of electric scooters and battery swapping networks used by other major players in the electric market. Due to the widespread use of their batteries, it has helped them become the standard in battery swapping.
What made the milestone even more impressive is that the company only operates in Taiwan. In Taiwan, Gogoro has become a major force since it debuted in 2015.
In major cities like Taipei, riders are always close to battery swap stations that were set up by the company. The stations are easy to use, and they let riders pull up and swap a battery for a fully-charged one in seconds.
What this means that the owners only need a scooter, which reduces the upfront cost of electric bikes in the country. There is a subscription for the battery swapping that is paid over time. On the other hand, the riders are never left with an old battery because of Gogoro's battery swap network.
Additionally, the GoStations also integrate the local grid, which means they can power themselves in emergencies or provide their stored energy back into the grid.
Currently, the company has around over 300,000 battery swaps every day. So far, they have recorded over 325 million battery swaps since the company started its operations in 2015.

An Open Network
One of the reasons Gogoro is successful is also because of its open network. Their network enables manufacturers to build electric scooters that use Gogoro's power plants for energy storage.
One major manufacturer that has teamed up with Gogoro is Yamaha, that has recently kicked off its electric scooter development. So far, the company has partnerships with ten manufacturers, and around 25 percent of them are sold in Taipei in the first half of this year.
Also, Gogoro has announced partnerships with major partnerships in other countries, such as India, Indonesia, and China.
Future Plans
Gogoro is making plans to improve their batteries, such as through solid-state packs. According to Luke Horace, the CEO and founder of Gogoro, "Gogoro's half-million battery swapping subscribers is an amazing testament to our growth and momentum as a company, but more importantly as it represents 500,000 individual stories and 500,000 people who have chosen to embrace sustainable transportation to led Taiwan into a sustainable future."
This year, the company will make its first expansion when it starts its operations in Tel Aviv, Israel.
