Based on a report from Engadget, the HBO Max and Discovery+ Collaboration affect some shows as they set to remove 36 titles this week for the preparation of the union next year.
A statement from HBO Max has been released and stated, "As we work toward bringing our content catalogs together under one platform, we will be making changes to the content offering available on both HBO Max and discovery. That will include the removal of some content from both platforms,".
Shows to be Removed
The shows that will be leaving are "The Not-too-Late Show with Elmo", which is a spinoff of "Sesame Street", "My Dinner with Herve", and a lot of Cartoon Network shows. While 20 HBO Max Originals will also depart from the streaming platform, such as "Generation", "12 Dates of Christmas", and more.
Instead of canceling the shows' production for future seasons, removing it will be more beneficial to HBO Max as they can cut costs and save for residuals. As per Warner Bros. Discovery, $3 billion will be saved as part of the union of the two streaming platforms.
Julia Pott, Summer Camp Island creator, expressed her frustration on Twitter as some episodes of the show will not be seen by the viewers if they can not find a new platform for it to stream. She stated, "This picture of our crew represents 37 teams of artists who found out online that their shows were being stripped from HBO MAX and for some, episodes we worked on for two years during a pandemic would never be released. @discoveryplus has no respect for artists."
On August 4, Warner Bros. Discovery announced the unification of DIscovery+ and HBO Max, which will include their new CNN+ and CNN Originals, announced by the newly appointed CEO David Zaslav as he adjusted the standing of the studio by making these decisions.

CEO and President JB Perrette said that the main purpose of merging the two platforms is to cater all of the members in the household by giving them more options to watch any shows they want. He stated "At the end of the day, putting all the content together was the only way we saw to make this a viable business,".
The merge of the HBO Max and Discovery+ are set to launch in Summer 2023. Yet, the removal of these shows on the streaming platform still does not have an official date, while the availability of these shows on DVD or rental service has yet to be announced.
HBO and HBO Max Restructure
Seventy employees or 14% of HBO Max's workforce, were removed because of the restructuring of the streaming platform, as Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys confirmed.
These changes will now affect the different clusters of HBO Max. The new current head of the drama slate of Max Originals is Sarah Aubrey. She will also be part of the international programming strategy together with Warner Bros. Discovery International Team. While Amy Gravit now handles the Comedy as she will be the new head of it. This slate will now be aligned with her duties as Executive VP of the platform.
