Google will update Google Search as the tech giant wants to tackle the clickbait problem on the platform. Google is also seeking to improve the relevancy of the search results.
The update will prioritize original and authentic reviews over recycled ones that pass around the aggregator sites. The changes in the form of two updates are being rolled out in the next couple of weeks.
Google Search Update
According to The Verge, Google announced that the update is meant to help people find relevant content because the platform attracts clicks rather than informs readers, and that is what it wants to correct.
The update will be available for English users globally, and the company will be rolling out a series of improvements to Google Search to make it easier for users to find helpful content made specifically for them.
Google added that the update would help make sure that "unoriginal, low-quality content does not rank highly in Google Search, particularly for online-educational materials, shopping, entertainment, and tech-related content.

A general search ranking update named the "Helpful Content Update" will start rolling out to English language users on Aug. 22, according to Jennifer Kutz, Google's spokesperson.
Kutz added that a second update would make it even easier to find high-quality, original reviews, and it is expected to roll out in the coming weeks.
The tech giant has updated product review rankings before, the first was in December 2021, and the next was in March, according to Search Engine Land.
The updates are helpful to those using the append Reddit hack to filter out unhelpful websites in search results in favor of real human experiences.
Users can see this "hack" when hunting for hardware reviews. For example, starting a Google search for "Sony WH" in the US suggests two results with Reddit on the end in favor of the word "review" for the Sony WH-1000XM headphones.
Content Boost
Comparably, the Brave web browser released a new feature that gives Stack Exchange and Reddit content a boost. These can be found under its "Discussions" section without having to add anything to the end of the search terms.
The announcement for the browser feature alluded to beliefs that Google Search "is dying" after noting that more users are turning to Reddit to get real reviews and proper answers to their questions.
Google is providing guidance for creators on its Search Central blog to make sure that they are creating content that "will be successful" after the tech giant's new updates roll out.
Google Search Console
Aside from updating the Google Search feature, the tech giant also migrated all Search Console properties to an updated system that simplifies how items, pages, and issues are classified, according to Search Engine Journal.
In June, Google started the effort to help Search Console users focus more on critical issues. To accomplish that goal, Google Search Console no longer groups URLs or items at the top level by three or more categories.
In the past, Search Console reports classified URLs with Warnings, Valid, and Error labels. You will see items in Search Console reported grouped into two statuses to indicate whether they are valid or invalid.
