Dodge's First EV: Charger Daytona

The muscle carmaker, Dodge, introduced its first-ever electric vehicle concept in the flesh of the new nameplate, the Charger Daytona SRT.

The new concept car sports a fusion of retro and futuristic aesthetic, as per the latest news story by CNBC. And true to the form of its gas-guzzling V8 siblings, the new EV still flaunts a muscular look.

But one of the biggest highlights of the new EV concept is its real exhaust noise, which most all-electric vehicles these days no longer have, making them deafeningly silent.

No less than the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the renowned carmaker, Tim Kuniskis, touts that the new EV concept "will redefine American muscle."

Although the new Charger Daytona is still merely an EV concept, the big boss of Dodge says that its overall design and technological features are making their way to its production version.

The chief exec claims its newly-unveiled EV concept "is not a science project."

In fact, Kuniskis boasts during the media briefing that its first-ever electric car not only looks like a Dodge, but it also "sounds like" it, not to mention it drives like one.

Dodge EV Exhaust Noise

According to a recent report by CNET, the American automaker made sure that the new EV concept still pays homage to the phenomenal muscle engines of its iconic Charger and Challenger vehicles.

The new EV concept still brings a real exhaust system to the electric muscle car, which goes by the name Fratzonic Chambered Exhausts.

The exhaust system uses an amplifier to produce impressive powertrain noise, coupled with tuning chambers.

CNET says in its report that the exhaust noise of the all-new Charger Daytona is actually at the same level of decibels as the Hellcat powertrain that Dodge muscle cars sport nowadays.

And as such, the Charger Daytona lets folks behind its wheel to "rev" the electric car, wherein it lashes out a loud exhaust noise, unlike most EVs out there.
