The old USB iPhone charger from Apple might be going away anytime soon. Although the Cupertino tech firm is still selling this product, it's only a matter of time before we don't see any stocks of it across several countries.
Apple's 5W iPhone Charger is Sold Out
According to a report by How to Geek, Apple's classic 5W USB power adapter is reportedly sold out at the moment in select Apple stores in different locations.
As per the official website of the company, this charger is now "sold out." If you see this note upon visiting Apple's page, it's a clear indication that you won't be able to buy it soon.
At the moment, the 5W charger remains available for purchase in the US, the UK, Canada, and Brazil. However, it's no longer available in some countries including Japan, Spain, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, China, and Italy.
Way back in 2008 when the charger was released along with iPhone 3G, the iPad maker knew that it would be a big hit in the making. It boasts a 5W charging speed which was already considered "fast" for old smartphone models.
Compared to the present power adapters, it's slower since the next-gen handsets offer over 15W charging speed. This product is currently sitting at $19.
Moreover, it has become a standard charger for iPhone 11 and the previous Apple Watch models.
As part of the company's plans to go green, it decided to exclude the 5W power adapter on an iPhone or Apple Watch package in hopes of minimizing the e-waste in the environment, 9to5Mac reports.
Although there are far more advanced iPhone chargers to date, using the 5W model can be an ideal alternative sometimes, especially for those who charge their devices overnight.
Using a slower charger can pave the way for longer battery life. Unlike the modern power adapter, it's useful in mitigating excessive wear and tear of the batteries. It's also helpful in avoiding the chances of overheating in the devices.

The Modern Apple 30W Charger
Last March, the tech titan unveiled a special iPhone charger that offers 30W charging capability. At that time, Tech Times reported that its expected launch could take place before 2023.
Moreover, the new iPhone accessory makes use of gallium nitride so it only produces less heat. Yes, it is smaller, but it can operate under huge wattages because of its design.
If you want an upgraded charger, not just for your iPhones, you can check the Belkin 70W power adapter which can also charge your MacBooks at the same time.
Its dual port is what makes it unique. This paves the way for simultaneous charging support for two Apple devices.
More importantly, it's almost the same price as the 35W dual USB-C charger. You can reap more advantages here by going at a similar price so it's very worth your money.
