Sony has announced that it will be making some of its well-known PlayStation games into movies or TV shows.
One of the most highly anticipated live-action adaptations is "The Last of Us," which is set to premiere on HBO.
Aside from that, another video game that will make its live-action debut is "Ghost of Tsushima," directed by Chad Stahelski. The production for the movie will begin in early 2023.
Ghost of Tsushima's Cast
While the film is still in development and will not be released until 2024 due to Stahelski's busy schedule, he did reveal his plan for the film.
In an interview with Collider, Stahelski said that he wants the entire film to be spoken in Japanese. He also talked about having a complete Japanese cast.
The director also shared his admiration of the Japanese culture and his excitement in bringing the famous video game to life for a wide audience.

Stahelski said that "Ghost of Tsushima" is a "typical mythological story of good vs. evil," and that it is about watching the character change the world or watching the world change him instead.
The Hollywood director's desire to make a film entirely in subtitles may remind the audience of the 2020 Oscars when "Parasite" director Bong Joon-Ho said that there are a lot of amazing films out there that people can discover if they're patient with the subtitles.
According to Gizmodo, Stahelski is aware that he's got a hurdle ahead of him in pitching this idea to production companies, but he is optimistic that they can pull it off, especially if the action and scope are good enough that subtitles won't matter.
The director believes that Western audiences, in general, are now getting more and more used to subtitles because of the influence of streaming platforms like Netflix.
What is Ghost of Tsushima About?
"Ghost of Tsushima," tells the story of Jin Sakai, the survivor of an attack on Tsushima during the 1274's Mongol invasion of Japan.
Torn between his beliefs in the samurai code and adopting new, stealthier tactics, it fell to Jin to recruit allies and push back the Mongols.
The PlayStation video game became a critical and commercial success when it was released in 2020 and re-released in 2021 when it went to the PlayStation 5 with a new story expansion.
The game is influenced by the samurai works of acclaimed director Akira Kurosawa, which is why there is a black and white visual filter named after the late filmmaker.
PlayStation Movie and TV Currently in Development
According to ComicBook, "The Last of Us" and "Ghost of Tsushima" are just the beginning of Sony's plan to release live-action versions of its famous video games.
"God of War" is making its way to the small screen through Amazon Prime. In early 2022, it was rumored that Sony and Amazon were in talks to bring the game to life, but nothing was confirmed.
In early August, Sony confirmed that "God of War" would be adapted for Amazon Prime, which is still in its early stations.
No cast, writer, or director has been confirmed, but the streaming platform confirmed that it would be a TV series, not a movie.
