Elon Musk is teasing a new social media platform that he would create, and it will take the domain and name of "X.com," a known previous venture of the tech CEO. Previously, X.com was an online baking website that merged with its competitor, Confinity, Inc., and later became the famous global brand known today as "PayPal" that eBay owns.

A question from Tesla Owners Silicon Valley brought out a new development from the world's top billionaire regarding his plans on creating a new social media platform. It asked the tech CEO about his plans on a social media platform should the Twitter deal fail to push through in the future.

Here, Elon Musk answered with a simple "X.com" that pertains to a domain and previous company he owned, which he initially founded on 1999 and merged with another company in 2000.

X.com was not used in the new company that eBay bought in 2002, as it changed its name to PayPal, still focusing on the online banking feature for the public.

Nevertheless, it may serve as a new platform in the future, and it has the capability of owning the same name for social media.

New Social Media Venture from Old PayPal Domain?

It seems that the renowned CEO would not deviate much from the name, X.com, and it would use the famous domain as the foundation of the future social media platform that he aims to establish. It is unknown what type of platform it would offer the public if it would be something like Twitter, but with everything that Musk promised when he first eyed the short-word social media company.

However, it would depend on the Twitter lawsuit and the deal that will begin its court proceedings soon.

Twitter and Elon Musk

Musk was close to owning a renowned platform and making it private to focus on delivering an experience that would be available for all, hearing the different sides of the spectrum, and would serve the left and right. However, there was a significant dispute between the tech CEO in his purchase of Twitter, and it is about the undisclosed bot numbers.

Now, there is a lawsuit filed against Elon Musk for not pushing through with the initial $44 billion deal that would supposedly bring Twitter under the billionaire's wing.

Additionally, these two entities would see each other in a Delaware court, and the trial would begin by October 17, and it would visit the many agreements and legal proceedings for the said case. Twitter is pushing for the fight against Musk's team regarding the supposed deal that did not take place, saying that it is a breach of their contracts.

It seems that Twitter is already out of the consideration of Elon Musk for his social media platform that would be open and free for all, giving a fair and open platform that would have users experience a lot for their needs. X.com or the old PayPal platform would be the alleged name of the social media, but that is not yet a sure case for Musk's plans.
