In the partnership project, which has grown into an annual event for Transformers, a product from the mirrorless camera "EOSR5" manufactured by Canon Inc. that transforms into a robot has made an appearance. The "EOSR5 mode" of the camera is replicated at 80% scale of the real camera, and the body and lens can be taken off much like the real camera. It has a finish that mimics the details of the main body design while being a toy that cannot be photographed. Takara Tomy

Who said that cars are the only ones that can become transformers? Even a simple Canon EOS R5 can actually do that with ease!

Transformers R5 Optimus Prime, a Canon EOS crossover, has been officially unveiled by Takara TOMY.

According to its product information, the non-working camera mode contains a lens that can be removed, a lens cover that doubles as a shield, a mini-EOS R5, and Matrix accessories. Additionally, it is scaled to 80% of the original EOS R5.

The unassuming camera changes into either the valiant Autobot leader Optimus Prime or the evil Decepticon lieutenant Reflector—a Transformer who formerly transformed into a vintage SLR camera. On February 25, 2023, these new action figures, which costs 19,800 or $150 USD, will be made available in Japan. Takara Tomy

Transformers Canon Cameras

A pair of Transformers figures that can fold into surprisingly realistic-looking Canon mirrorless cameras are the product of the partnership between Japanese companies Takara TOMY and Canon.

These funky action figures will be priced at ¥ 19,800 or $150, according to a report by TFormers.

The weird camera also has a finish that mimics the details of the main body design, and it is worth noting that this product is only a toy, so if you're a photography enthusiast, this camera is unfortunately not for you.

Additionally, "Optimus Prime R5" has a meaningful design with a lens on the chest in robot mode. Its arms and legs are the original colors of "Optimus Prime" in red and blue, respectively.

Camera Lens As Shields

What's even more interesting with this product is that the lens cap can be used as a shield for the Transformer robots.

It is also worth noting that the figurines are inspired by the animated series' main characters, Optimus Prime and Deception Refraktor.

Preorders for both Transformers, which will be available in Japan on February 25, 2023, are currently being accepted through Sept. 28, according to TFW2005.

However, whether these products will have a global release is still unknown.
