A new Alzheimer's-diagnosing AI is being developed by health researchers at the Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM).
They claimed that artificial intelligence can actually solve some of the hardest challenges that affect the delivery of dementia treatment to old people, especially those with Alzheimer's disease.
In 2021, the National Library of Medicine revealed that more than 6.2 million U.S. residents are suffering from Alzheimer's.
Based on their findings, more people are expected to develop the disease, possibly reaching more than 13 million around 2060.
Now, if the new AI is proven to be effective, it can many old people get their needed treatment before their dementia worsens.
Alzheimer-Diagnosing AI Better Than Medical Experts?
According to SciTech Daily's latest report, BUSM's new study showed that their new Alzheimer's-diagnosing Ai tech is more efficient than human physicians.

As of writing, many medical professionals are already working on various artificial intelligence models that can differentiate individuals with certain diseases and those who don't have any.
But, an AI model that is comparable to or better than the actual diagnosis procedures.
"We show that this is achievable when a model is presented with a broad differential diagnosis of possible illnesses," claimed Vijaya B. Kolachalama, Ph.D., one of the main authors of the new study.
He explained that dementia is most likely caused by Alzheimer's.
However, other factors can also lead to this medical condition, such as geriatric depression, Parkinson's disease, and other disorders.
Now, Kolachalama stated that they were able to demonstrate a computational strategy with the ability to properly diagnose Alzheimer's in a dementia patient.
How Alzheimer's-Diagnosing AI Works?
Involved researchers explained that their new AI model is capable of receiving large quantities of data, which is collected from the results of a dementia patient.
These include functional testing, neuropsychological testing, physical examination, medical history, MRI scans, etc.
After that, the needed health information will be sent to a neural network that can is trained to identify disease-specific signatures. Then, they will localize the diagnosed health changes related to dementia.
