NASA's Roscosmos-ESA spacewalk coverage is confirmed. This means that the international space union will offer a live stream so that fans can see what will happen during the ISS activity.
This is a big deal for Russia and other countries included in NASA. For the past few months, Roscosmos wasn't really on good terms with the space agency because of several issues.
The latest one happened after NASA criticized the Russian space agency after some cosmonauts posted their pictures holding two Russia-backed state flags.
Now, since the tension between Russia and NASA is easing, essential space activities can continue smoothly, including the upcoming ISS spacewalk.
NASA's Roscosmos-ESA Spacewalk Coverage 2022
NASA said that it would cover the upcoming ISS spacewalk via its official NASA app, NASA TV, as well as its website.
Aside from NASA, Republic World reported that ESA's official website would also offer its own live stream.
"NASA will provide live coverage of a spacewalk on Thursday, July 21," said the international space agency via its official announcement post on NASA Gov.
NASA added that the live broadcast would start at exactly 9:30 a.m. EDT, 30 minutes before the schedule of the Roscosmos-ESA spacewalk (10:00 a.m. EDT).
The latest International Space Station spacewalk is expected to last around six and a half hours.
ESA's Flight Engineer Samantha Cristoforetti and Roscosmos' Expedition 67 Commander Oleg Artemyev will conduct essential activities that will benefit the entire ISS.
They will use the advanced Russian Orlan spacesuits while outside the giant orbital laboratory.
Roscosmos-ESA Spacewalk's Other Details
NASA explained that the new spacewalk's main goal is to install platforms and workstation adapter hardware near a manipulator system mounted to Nauka.
Aside from this, the assigned cosmonaut and astronaut will also relocate the external control panel of ESA's giant robotic arm.
They will also replace a protective window on the machine's camera unit. These are just some of the things that make the new spacewalk quite intriguing.
But, the most interesting one about this ISS activity is that it will also allow the first European woman to have her spacewalk outside the space laboratory.
Recently, the NASA James Webb Space Telescope suffered from permanent damage after a micrometeoroid hit it.
On the other hand, the NASA TESS identified two new massive extrasolar planets.
