Twitch creators will soon be able to raise money for charity on the platform. The company recently launched a closed beta of Twitch Charity to a select group of affiliates and partners, based on a blog post.
The donations will be processed through the PayPal Giving Fund and can be tracked in the activity feed and chat. Before, the viewers made their donations only via subs and Bits, then the streamers need to rely on a third-party charity portal to send money to their chosen organization.
Now, with its very own charity product, there will be no middleman anymore, which will make it easier to host a fundraiser and donate to one.
A Moneymaker
The fundraising on the platform has become a huge moneymaker in the previous years. In fact, the charity that streams on the platform can gather six or seven-figure sums easily, especially if it involves a popular streamer or a celebrity. In fact, well-known creators on the platform can also easily raise millions of dollars via charity streams.
Just last year, a multi-streamer charity even by Aerator and Dach broke records when it raised $11.5 million for Action Against Hunger, which is a global organization that is dedicated to treating and preventing malnutrition.
Also, huge channels and even small-time creators usually participate in streaming marathons to raise money for their favorite causes these days. And with this new feature, there will be a lot of causes and organizations that will receive the help that they always needed.
Additionally, a native fundraising feature also means that the creators will o longer be subject to third-party fees. Twitch now allows creators to donate 100 percent of their revenue and will forgo a tax incentive.

What It Does
Through the Charity section in the Creator Dashboard, users can select a cause and set up a fundraising stream. By enabling a charity campaign, it will automatically unlock the "Donate to Charity button which viewers can click on to show their support.
Simple is Always Better
With the Charity section on the platform, simplifies a lot of things and eliminates hassles when it comes to charity donations. The simplicity also makes it easier for streamers to raise money in a more transparent way. On the side of the viewers, showing their support becomes even simpler, clearer, and more impactful.
According to Twitch, they will add more charities soon enough. As for now, it is being rolled out to select beta participants who will receive an email about it with the details they need.
There is no information yet on where it will go live for all users.
