Instagram's new update includes a map that could help make it easier for users to find local businesses or attractions. The new map also helps users look for places as well as find posts about them.
Mark Zuckerberg Gave An Update Regarding Instagram's New Maps Feature
Mark Zuckerberg reportedly posted an Instagram Story sharing a new feature that will help users discover popular local businesses near them. The map will also show a list of different places nearby that will allow users to see the posts about a certain place or certain business types.
According to the story by The Verge, there are a few ways that users will be able to access the map. The map can be accessed if someone tags a place within a post or story and all the user has to do is click on "see location" to find out the location.
Another Way to Search for Locations Using Instagram's New Maps Update
When on the map, users can move around in order to search the area and find out what else is nearby. Users can also look for different places, which include entire cities, by using the Explore tab.
When users are searching for a certain place or location, they can choose to tap on it in order to go straight to maps. When users are looking for an area, they can then choose a filter in order to narrow down the search to see restaurants, bars, parks, or even some other places.
Users can Save Locations to Revisit or Check on Them Later on
Users can then opt to save certain locations if they want to check them out again sometime later on. In order to access the saved places, users can click go to the hamburger menu located on the top right and click on Saved.
As seen on Social Media Today, the new updated map feature was being tested out in 2021 in certain countries. As per Zuckerberg's Story, however, the feature is now widely available to even more users around the world.

Instagram Rolls Out Multiple Features Directed at E-Commerce
The Verge noted that Instagram has really been rolling out multiple e-commerce features to its popular apps during the last few months. It was also mentioned that the map feature is also another way that the social media platform will become more business-friendly, especially for those brick-and-mortar types of businesses that rely heavily on physical location.
It was also noted by the publication that with Facebook already suggesting certain types of businesses on its very own places pages along with the number of features Meta has been sharing between its different platforms, it wouldn't be that surprising if users saw a similar map feature come out in some of the other Meta platforms in the future.
