Unbeknownst to some, this has been available on some Fitbit smartwatches for a while, but this time around, the brand is rolling it out on their simpler devices.

How to Get the Update

Charge 5 users will get the new feature when they install the 171.50 update. You can read the instructions here.

There are also requirements, such as:

  • The watch should be connected or paired to the phone that you want to locate.
  • The Bluetooth must be turned on within 30 feet of the Fitbit.
  • The Fitbit app must be running in the background on your phone.

The option will also appear when you swipe down from the top of the screen. Tapping it will start ringing your phone, even if it's on silent.

Loaded With New Features

This new feature comes months after Fitbit released the ECG app, Daily Readiness Score, and the irregular heart rhythm notifications.

The ECG app will help users assess their heart for Atrial Fibrillation (AFib), which is an irregularity of the heart rhythm. Along with this, it also includes bug fixes and improvements.

To record an electrocardiogram, open the ECG app on the Charge 5 and place your fingers on the stainless steel side panels for 30 seconds. Here, you will get the ECG data in the Heart Rhythm Assessment tile within Health Assessment & Reports section in the Fitbit companion app on your mobile.

Alongside this, the Daily Readiness Score was rolled out not only to the Charge 5 but to other models as well such as, Sense, Versa 3, Versa 2, and Luxe. This new metric considered your activity level, sleep, and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) to give users a Daily Readiness Score.

When you get a higher score, this means that you're ready for a higher-intensity workout. On the other hand, a low score means the body is tired and you should prioritize rest.

One thing to keep in mind with the Daily Readiness Score is that it requires a Fitbit Premium subscription via the app.

And finally, the glucose tracking feature in the mobile app that was introduced in February will now be moving to a wider market including Australia, Germany, Canada, Hong Kong, France, India, Space, Singapore, and the UK.

Currently, there is no information yet on the other changes included in the latest update for the Fitbit Charge 5.
