EA says "Skate 4" or "skate" is a free-to-play live service available on various platforms, such as Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, allowing its future players to have cross-play and cross-progression options.

On top of that, Electronic Arts, the game publisher of "Skate 4" also says that the upcoming game is going to be simply referred to as "skate."

EA's 'Skate 4' is Free-to-Play

As per a news story by Games Radar, the developers of "Skate 4 "insist in their latest stream that the upcoming extreme sports game is not going to be " pay to win" even if it is free-to-play.

The devs of "stake" explicitly assured future players that it would not include mechanics that most free-to-play titles use.

For instance, the Skate 4 devs say that the new game would not include any "paid loot boxes," which has been controversial these days, as some countries have already considered it as a form of gambling.

What's more, they also assured fans of the game that it would not sport any "paid gameplay advantages." So even if you are not willing to shell out some money, it appears that you could progress the game without an unfair disadvantage.

Besides loot boxes and gameplay advantages, the devs also vow that Skate 4 has "no map areas locked behind a paywall." It should give its non-paying players a chance to experience all the available maps in the game.

To further prove that the game is not going to be some frustrating "pay-to-win" offering, they also plan to take inspiration from another free-to-play game "Apex Legends," at least in terms of its monetization.

'Not Skate 4'

Although the upcoming EA gaming title is more commonly referred to as "Skate 4," as it has been for quite some time, the devs clarify that it is "not Skate 4."

According to a recent report by IGN, the devs say that it is "skate, period."

And it appears that is not all about branding. In fact, the folks behind the game state that the upcoming "skate" title is actually not a direct sequel to its predecessors.

Games Radar further says in its report that the devs also disclose that it is not a remaster or remake of any previous game.

And as such, the all-new "skate" is a standalone gaming title and has nothing to do with the previous releases of EA.
