But, he shared that wanted to continue his passion for open source, education, and especially around the technical work in artificial intelligence development.
His sudden resignation will certainly sadden many fans of the EV maker, especially since he is among the rare executives who are allowed to take the center stage during presentations.
Before his resignation, the ex-Tesla AI senior director became quiet. After people asked why Karpathy is out of the scene, Elon Musk confirmed that he was on sabbatical leave (for four months).
Because of this, many individuals were worried, especially since many Tesla executives who also took their breaks also decided to resign.
Now, this scenario happened again with Karpathy. Although this is the case, the billionaire thanked Andrej for his contributions to the rising Tesla Autopilot tech.
Musk said that it has been an honor working with the ex-AI head.
Andrej Karpathy's Contributions
Karpathy joined Tesla back in June 2017. After being hired by the EV maker, he quickly became the head of the company's Autopilot computer vision team.
Before he accepted Tesla's offer, he was already working for a firm backed by Elon Musk; OpenAI. Andrej is considered by Tesla as one of the individuals who are more than fit to work for its Autopilot program.
During his time with the company, he is seen as a competent leader, which greatly helped in the enhancements of Tesla's self-driving tech. If you want to see further details about Karpathy, you can visit this link.
