"Yu-Gi-OH! Cross Duel" arrived on iOS and Android mobile devices without even the fans knowing it. Konami confirmed the arrival of the new video game.
In May, the game developer said they are still working on the "Cross Duel" mobile version. But, it didn't provide the exact release date.
Now, Konami decided to release the new game on Thursday, July 7. However, the title creator hasn't announced the sudden rollout clearly.
Shadow-dropping games (launching without informing the public) are not really a new scene in the gaming industry. But is this link to the death of Kazuki Takahashi?
Is 'Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel' To Honor Takahashi?
According to NPR's latest report, the creator of the "Yu-Gi-Oh!" card game, Kazuki Takahashi, was found dead on Wednesday, July 6.
Authorities said that his body was found floating off the coast of Nago, Okinawa.
Based on the findings, he was wearing snorkeling gear. This suggests that he was somehow on his vacation. The death of the 60-year-old man saddened many fans of "Yu-Gi-Oh!."
He started working on the manga comic series, which was then turned into a game.
"I'm crying even more. Kazuki had such an incredible spirit. He was so kind and down to Earth. He looks so happy here with them. I'm glad he knew how much he meant to people," said one of his fans on Twitter.
Since the arrival of "Cross Duel" is just one day after the death of Takahashi, it is easy to speculate that the game's shadow-dropping is Konami's way to honor the iconic man.
However, the game publisher didn't confirm this detail. No matter what the case is, one thing is sure. All the new versions of "Yu-Gi-Oh!" will always be linked to the comic's creator.
