The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience will be removed from the Xbox and PlayStation stores on July 9. After that, users can still play and download it but only if it's added to their library before it gets removed.
The Matrix Awakens for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S / X was released in December 2021 and was a tech demo to show off the power and potential of the next-gen graphics engine of Epic. It features digital replicas of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, a car chase turret sequence, and a digital city that is explorable, according to The Verge.
The main reason to play it is to witness the graphics by the Unreal Engine 5 on the latest consoles.
The reason is unclear yet why Epic is removing the demo from stores.

The Matrix
The Matrix is a 1999 film by the Wachowski brothers and stars Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving, and Joe Pantoliano. It is an action movie which takes place in a cyberpunk dystopia in which reality is actually a simulated computer program.
The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions are 2003 follow-ups that are also set in the same universe of the original film. The first sequel has a significantly higher budget than the original and is considered one of the great science fiction films of all time because it introduced a new concept of digital reality.
It was successful enough that it spawned The Animatrix, a collection of nine animated short films in 2003. Two of them, The Second Renaissance and The Final Flight of the Osiris, are set before the events of the first film, and the other seven are set between the first and second films.
Epic Games
Epic Games is the maker of the Unreal Engine, the most popular and widely used game engine in the world that produces a high-quality gaming experience. It is used in various platforms such as gaming, mobile development, movies, and architecture.
The Unreal Engine also supports cross-platform compatibility and is widely used in development of games and simulations.
Also recently, Epic Games released an update to its MetaHuman character creation tool that lets developers import scans of real people for use in real-time applications. It works like an advanced version of a character customizer but with more control and fidelity.
The new release now includes a new 'Mesh to MetaHuman' feature that will let developers import face scans of real people. It's still in its early access and intended for Unreal Engine developers.
Epic Games is the creator of Fortnite, Paragon, and EPIC Games' other major titles.
