Elon Musk is Finding the Biden Administration 'Troubling'
Musk is back on Twitter, and he already reached a post from 2021 in his return to the platform and found a long thread that talked about a report on the current Biden administration's social media censorship. Here, the Tesla CEO and co-founder reacted to the thread, saying that what is happening now is "troubling" for him.
The thread discussed how the current Biden leadership and the White House are asking several platforms like Facebook to censor several online posts and discussions. Here, journalist Glenn Greenwald said these are "classic hallmarks of fascism," particularly in their actions that tell Facebook which posts are "problematic" and should be removed from the platform.
Social Media Censorship of the Current Biden Admin
The thread from Greenwald came from July 2021, and almost more than a year later, Musk is reacting to the report from the journalist. Greenwald compiled speeches from the White House and other government officials that support his claims, saying that the administration kept tabs and lists regarding who to censor online regarding misinformation and other alarming content.
Elon Musk and Twitter's Free Speech
Elon Musk talks about free speech on Twitter and his plans to make it a platform where people would feel safe and liberated to share their thoughts in the public space without anything to worry about in the present. This is the new age of Twitter, and it will happen once Musk becomes the private owner of the company, something that the world is waiting on in its process to transition.
The goal of Twitter's new free speech campaign is to provide a platform where there would be no censorship, and all information or opinions from every side will have a chance to be heard. Musk said that its censorship would not go beyond the law, and it would still follow the rules that the government set for a social media's boundaries for free speech.
Now that Musk is back on Twitter after more than a week of hiatus, he explored the platform for a post that stems almost a year ago and is talking about social media censorship of the current Administration. It is unknown if there are coming changes to Twitter that will adhere to these requests from the government once Musk is the leader of the platform.
