Nissan LEAF electric vehicle (EV) deliveries in the United States have massively slumped in the first quarter of 2022 compared to its performance at the same time in 2021.
The flagship EV of Nissan, the all-electric Leaf, is seeing worrying delivery figures these days.
Nissan LEAF EV Deliveries Q2 2022
A news story by Inside EVs reports that the deliveries of Nissan this year saw a downtrend from last year. The Japanese carmaker only shipped a total of 172,612 vehicles in the second quarter of 2022. And it is far from its performance in 2021.
The news outlet notes that the deliveries of Nissan in the second quarter of 2022 are down by 38.4 percent from the shipments of the renowned automaker in 2021.
Meanwhile, the deliveries of its all-electric flagship, the Nissan LEAF, also drastically saw lower deliveries in the last quarter than a year ago.
If we're going to be more precise, the Japanese carmaker only shipped over 3,200 LEAF EVs in the last quarter. And as such, the latest numbers are roughly 32.3 percent lower than in 2021.
In addition, the deliveries of LEAF in the second quarter only captured roughly 1.9 percent of the total sales of Nissan in the US. But in terms of passenger cars, it still gets a 5 percent slice of the pie.
Nissan LEAF EV Deliveries 2022
If we are going to zoom out on the sales figures of the Nissan LEAF, the carmaker has already sold around 7,600 units of its flagship EV in 2022. And so far, that's approximately a 1.4 percent increase from its 2021 performance.
But despite that, Nissan has already sold a whopping 173,332 LEAF EVs in the US since it reached the American territory more than a decade ago, or in December 2010, to be more exact.
2023 Nissan LEAF
But regardless of the sales performance of the LEAF, Nissan recently announced the pricing details of its all-new 2023 LEAF last June.
And according to a recent report by CNET, the all-new Nissan flagship EV is way more expensive than its predecessor.
The all-new 2023 LEAF starts at a $28,895 price, which already includes the $,1,095 destination fee. CNET notes that it is a $470 price increase from the 2022 release.
It is worth noting that the new Nissan LEAF is now available at dealerships near you.
