As per The Guardian's early report, 15 Black workers on Tesla have accused the company of "racially" abusing them inside the plants.

The plaintiffs who worked or currently work at the EV manufacturing firm said they experienced harassment from different people in the building.

As such, the lawsuit, which was filed in California, says that Tesla's managers, human resources employees, and other staff have been throwing offensive and racist remarks at them.

To be specific, the issue took place at the Fremont factory of the automaker. The affected individuals pointed out that their colleagues and other Tesla personnel were using offensive words such as "slavery," "plantation," and the "N-word."

Aside from that, the accused persons were spitting sexual comments at the victims. The complainants point out that Tesla appears to be "open" to factory-wide racial discrimination.

The lawsuit also says that the company has been subjecting the Black workers to the "most physical" activities to fight for their promotion.

Lawsuits Are Commonplace in Tesla

As per Reuters, the automaker is currently dealing with at least 10 lawsuits. All of them are related to either sexual harassment or racial discrimination.

In 2017, some employees filed a lawsuit against Tesla over gender discrimination and sexism. According to one complainant, the workplace promoted "unethical" conditions, which permitted harassment to take place.

Moreover, the issue also stirred controversy regarding the promotion to "less qualified" employees. This problem addressed that men received less work than women at work.

Just recently, a California judge summoned Tesla to court because of the damages it did to a former company employee. The Black worker said that the firm was discriminating against him. To pay for the damages, he will receive a $15 million award.

There's another lawsuit that a company shareholder filed. This time, the complainant accused tech boss Elon Musk of allowing the toxicity to propagate in the workplace.

Additionally, the shareholder alleged that the board of directors was not listening to several complaints of the employees.

Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

In late December of 2021, six women reportedly accused Tesla of sexually harassing them.

Per Jessica Brooks, one of the complainants experienced it on her first day of work. She noticed at that time that some men had been calling her the "new girl."

To add insult to the injury, the woman said the company was not doing anything to alleviate the internal issue. Instead, it only allowed the incident to continue even though there were already reports which reached the office.
