The Tesla Gigafactory Texas expansion is now confirmed after the giant electric carmaker filed a request to the city of Austin.
As of writing, this massive manufacturing plant is already more than 8 square kilometers, making it one of the largest gigafactories of the EV manufacturer.
But, its size is expected to increase once the city officials approve Elon Musk's expansion request of Austin.
Now, here are the things written in Tesla's latest expansion request.
Tesla Gigafactory Texas Expansion Request Has Been Filed!
According to Electrek's latest report, the new Tesla Gigafactory Texas expansion will build a new plant of around 500,000-square-foot.
"All above ground piping and underground plumbing, GA 2 and 3 expansion, 500,000 square foot," said the giant automaker via its official request document.
For those unfamiliar with the term GA, experts confirmed that it means "General Assembly."
Based on the statement provided by the automaker, there will be a total of two new assembly lines in the new building.
As of press time, it is still hard to conclude if the new manufacturing plant will be built specifically for the production of Tesla Model Y or for other new EV models, including Tesla Semi and Tesla Cybertruck.

Issues With Other Tesla Gigafactory
While the giant EV maker plans to expand its Tesla Gigafactory Texas The Verge reported that it is being accused of violating federal law after it conducted mass layoffs in Giga Nevada.
Two ex-workers of the automaker filed a complaint, claiming that Tesla failed to provide a 60-day notice before firing them from their positions.
They added that the company removed around 500 employees from its Gigafactory Nevada. As of writing, the lawsuit filed by the two former staff is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, some Tesla employees claimed that the EV maker is observing their attendance.
On the other hand, Tesla, Polestar, and other EV makers claimed that their electric cars' qualities were reduced.
