Apple Books app on iOS 15.5 reportedly stopped working, according to some iPhone users, which started when they updated the mobile operating system on their smartphones.
iOS 15.5 started rolling out to iPhone users back in May. As per a news story by CNET, the latest Apple mobile software update is smaller than the 15.4 version. Nevertheless, it still flaunts and introduces a few new features to its users.
Essentially, iOS 15.5 brings massive improvements to Apple Cash, the Podcasts app. What's more, it finally rebranded iTunes Pass to Apple Balance.
iOS 15.5's Apple Books Stops Working
However, apart from these welcome refinements, it appears that the 15.5 version also messes with the Apple Books app.
According to the recent report by 9to5 Mac, the latest iOS update received numerous complaints from Apple Books users.
Some users of the Apple Books app frustratingly report that it has stopped working since they got their hands on the iOS 15.5 update, making it completely unusable.
Not to mention that even iPad users who got the iPadOS 15.5 update face the same issues with the Apple Books app.
A couple of users narrate that once they try to open the app, it crashes right away, which was not the case when they still have iOS 15.4 installed on their devices.
By simply checking out the Apple App Store listing of the e-book reading platform of the Cupertino-based tech giant, complaints from iOS 15.5 users now floods the review section.
The average rating of the Apple Books app on the App Store now averages roughly three stars.
9to5 Mac notes in the same report that users in the review section shared how opening the app has become impossible since updating to the 15.5 version.
Another user even says that their iPad was specifically for reading e-books. But with the Apple Books app broken, the user says, "I'm constantly struggling with reading."

9to5 also highlights that the whole Apple Books mess is nowhere to be seen in the iOS 15.6 Beta, as well as the more advanced iOS 16 Beta.
So, the Apple Books app appears to work fine on the later version of iOS 15. Once the new update starts rolling out, it might end the sudden crashes on the e-book app.
