Meta is now slowly rolling out NFTs to select creators in the United States. These creators can post digital collectibles on Facebook and show off NFTs on their profiles under a new tab.

The art will come with a label that reads "digital collectibles." The launch of NFTs on Facebook comes after CEO Mark Zuckerberg said they will be testing NFT support on Facebook soon.

According to TechCrunch, the test will let creators cross-post on Instagram and Facebook, which will come soon.

Additionally, Meta's product manager Navdeep Singh also shared screenshots of the digital collectibles support. They show that creators can post NFTs on your timeline, and if you click on them, it will show details about that specific digital collectible.

There will be no fees associated with posting or sharing a digital collectible. Meta won't also provide the opportunity to turn digital collectible posts into ads for now.

On the other hand, Instagram's NFTs are tokenized on Ethereal and Polygon, with Solana and Flow support currently in the works.

Augmented Reality (AR) NFTs

AR NFTs are also coming to Meta platforms, such as Instagram Stories via Spark AR. Instagram is already developing a range of AR elements that will be used for the Stories feature. These elements are animated, digital objects that can be overlaid on the physical space.

The AR stickers will also interact in physical space. Additionally, it is also exploring to incorporate a new AR element with the new NFT display options.

According to Meta: "For the first time, you'll be able to display 2D NFTs you own anywhere you want using mobile AR. And when you do, you'll experience an entirely new pride of ownership in those digital items because you'll be able to see them and share them in the physical places you're in every day."

This move really sets the future of NFT on Meta platforms.

The Sustainability of NFT

One of the biggest issues regarding NFTs is sustainability. With the constant concern of negative events in the crypto market, sustainability is really important for NFTs.

When it comes to the sustainability of NFTs, Meta is aware of this. The company said that they are committed to sustainability, and as part of it, they are helping reduce the emissions impact that is connected with digital collectibles by buying renewable energy.

Meta has dedicated its entire team to solve this sustainability issue. To ensure the sustainability of NFT, Meta is currently focused on scaling and improving its platform.

NFTs on Facebook, Instagram, and Meta are truly dynamic. These NFTs are incredibly powerful and can create a new business model on the internet. Meanwhile, NFTs have a potential to replace any form of digital good on the internet in the future. This really sets the future of blockchain on the internet.
