Being able to repair Google Pixels used to be a bit complicated, but now, iFixit is providing the necessary repair parts for users to DIY fixes. Users with damaged Pixel phones can either have them repaired by professionals or do the repairs themselves.
Google Decides to Join iFixit to Provide DIY Electronic Repairs
Google previously announced its plans back in April regarding its decision to join tech companies working with iFixit. The store offers parts and tools that users can buy in order to perform DIY electronic repairs on their devices.
Google Pixel 2-6 Pro owners will be able to access Google parts from the iFixit store. Buyers will be able to order what they need in order to repair their devices and follow a step-by-step guide for them to be able to execute those repairs.
Parts Available for the Pixel 2 to Pixel 6 Pro
Made By Google tweeted out the news saying iFixit will now be selling genuine Pixel spare parts in order for owners of the Pixel 2 to 6 to give their hardware a makeover. This means that buyers that have a cracked screen or defective charging port, won't have to go to a repair shop or just throw the device away.
Some repair shops can be expensive, and this has posed a huge problem when it comes to smartphone owners. When a Google Pixel device breaks, owners are usually left with two options, but with the addition of DIY parts on iFixit, owners can also choose to do the repairs themselves.
iFixit Repair Kit Prices May Vary in Price Depending on Age
According to the story by The Verge, iFixit is already providing all different kinds of repair kits, but the prices may vary, with newer ones being more expensive. An example of this is the Google Pixel 6 Pro screen, which in order to swap, buyers will have to pay $199.99 for the kit itself.
The prices, however, vary widely and are mostly based on age. Older devices would most likely have cheaper parts which would allow buyers to keep them as long as they want or at least as long as they remain comfortable with its Android software update.

Samsung to Potentially Offer Repair Kits Via iFixit
The arrangement for parts and tools distribution from iFixit already includes different companies like HTC, Microsoft, and even a console, the Steam Deck by Valve. Samsung is also planning to venture into providing DIY parts and guides, but this remains to be seen as the details will still be finalized.
The Verge notes that it seems unlikely that a 79-pound repair kit delivery would be needed for the devices. Owners of the Google Pixel 2 to Google Pixel 6 Pro can check out which parts or kits are available for DIY repairs on the iFixit website.
