Facebook Groups: Updates Bring ‘Channel Feature’ and It Is Something Like Discord

Facebook is on its way to adding a new feature for its Groups function, and it is one experience that most are already familiar with during this pandemic. The "Channels Feature" is coming to Meta's Facebook Groups, and it will allow people to have a better, detailed discussion about their organization or collective interests, something that Discord presented before.

Facebook Groups: Channel Feature Coming for Better Discussions

According to a blog post by Facebook, via Maria Smith, VP of Communities for the Facebook App, new features are coming for the Groups function of the social media application. The most significant element here is the Channels that will come for the experience, which would help streamline the discussions and conversation for all that are part of the group.

It will put several interests and discussions orderly and categorize different conversations on the social media platform to help bring the feed into a more organized view.

The new feature will appear on tabs on one side of the experience, showing different topics of interest, including Messenger, where users can communicate privately or through group chats.

Facebook Groups Channel Feature: Like Discord?

According to The Verge, this new feature from the social media company is like Discord and Slack's Channels, where users may control the discussion's flow and keep other information separate. It is a massive help to Facebook's app interface now, especially for users that focus on bringing different information that may be out of topic or far from the conversation.

Facebook and its Recent Updates

Facebook aims to better its application to bring more people to using its application, and it would help the average daily users that come into the app and use it for their social media experience. Many updates took place to give the public an experience under the Meta ecosystem, and one of them includes allowing the public to change their ad preferences and post audience.

The social media platform is known as the "Old Testament" of the internet as other features and applications bring modern preferences, including a vertical video feed. However, Facebook is sticking to its multimedia approach as one of the longest-running platforms online, with updates that bring and phase out several features on its offers.

The updates coming to Facebook intend to bring more people to use and trust the platform despite its many disputes in the past, and more modern features are coming to the social media soon. One of them is its use of a seemingly Discord experience on the Facebook Groups that will bring many discussions in an organized view and categories.
