Remote working appears to be an option for the majority of American workers, according to the latest survey. 58% of the US-based employees now have the opportunity for a flexible work arrangement at least one day per week.
35% of the workers reportedly prefer a weekly remote job schedule that lasts for five working days.
Flexible Work Arrangements
As The Verge spotted via McKinsey's survey, many Americans rely on flexible work modes, given that the COVID-19 pandemic is still underway.
According to the report, flexible working would continue to thrive in the job ecosystem following the worsening lockdowns brought by the global healthcare crisis.
The survey team said that the data would indicate a "major" shift when it comes to the working space across the United States.
Based on the survey, 87% of the US workers preferred to engage in a work-from-home setup. This population is found to be spending up to three days of remote working every week.
In short, 92 million workers in the US have the option to work at home. Meanwhile, 80 million employees prefer to do part-time jobs. The remaining percentage goes to 41% of the people who answered that WFH is not included in their option.

Additional Information About the Survey
In the same report, McKinsey wrote that the population with the highest tendency to go for remote work belongs to the high-earning young and educated individuals.
When it comes to the work-from-home opportunities, men were discovered to have been offered more options at 61%, while only 52% went to women.
Those workers who are taking home a salary between $25,000 and $49,000 have more options to go for remote work (47%). Those people who earn more than $150,000 account and prefer a work-from-home opportunity account for 75%.
Furthermore, the survey also suggests that the person's occupation has an important role in flexible work arrangements. Those workers in the field of mathematics and computing prefer to work remotely (89%).
The percentage of employees working in the food production and preparation industry declined to 29%. It should be noted that job hunters often choose a workplace with flexible working setups compared to those jobs on-site.
McKinsey surveyed 25,000 US residents whose ages range from 18 and above. Since this is an online program, the team said that there could be a bias in the study when it comes to several factors such as education and income.
