The upcoming event marks the return of Gamescom to the in-person format after years of doing it exclusively online, no thanks to the limitations brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This time, Gamescom 2022 carries a hybrid format, which allows gaming folks to join the festivities wherever they are in the world.

Ubisoft on Gamescom 2022

As per a news story by Games Radar, the renowned French video game firm, Ubisoft, has confirmed that it is indeed joining the return of Gamescom to the in-person format.

The 2022 gaming event begins on August 24 and concludes on August 28 in Cologne, Germany.

The official Twitter account of Ubisoft made the official announcement, which reads "See you at Gamescom" on "August 24-28."

The short tweet tells fans of Ubisoft games to "stay tuned for more news..." The gaming firm also attached a photo of its logo and Gamescom side-by-side.

Ubisoft's Gamescom Comeback: What to Expect

To be frank, Ubisoft has yet to officially unveil what it plans to bring to the upcoming gaming event this August.

But the announcement alone has ignited a few speculations about what to expect at Gamescom 2022.

According to a recent report by Game Informer, the attendance of Ubisoft might talk about a few details regarding the future offerings of its massive "Assassin's Creed" franchise.

But it is worth noting that Ubisoft has previously announced that the successor of "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" is set to unveil sometime in September in an event by the French game publisher.

So, perhaps attendees of Gamescom 2022 are less likely to learn anything major about the future of the "Assassin's Creed" franchise.

But Ubisoft has other offerings apart from that. Game Informer notes that the "Skill & Bones" is supposed to see the light of day in early 2022. There are also the possibilities of exciting announcements regarding Splinter Cell Remake and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake.

Gamescom 2022

While Ubisoft is ready to take the stage at Gamescom this August, other renowned game publishers and developers have skipped this year's event.

For instance, giant console makers, such as Sony and Nintendo have already confirmed their absence. Meanwhile, Activision and Take-Two are also skipping the gaming festivities.

Despite that, Xbox and THQ Nordic, among others are joining the "Assassin's Creed" creator.
