Using a Web Browser

Opening a clip from YT using a browser is possible, especially if you want to do it with the screen off. You just need to follow these procedures for this process.

First, open the YT app on your Google Chrome browser. From here, you will see the ellipses on top of your YouTube profile. It's near the space where the URL link is found.

After doing that, a menu will pop out. You need to look for "Desktop site" and tap it. After loading the video-viewing software for desktop use, you can now begin playing a video that you want to access from your device.

Once you're done selecting a clip, minimize your Chrome browser. Just continue playing the video on the notification bar.

Try locking your screen and you will see that the video will still play in the background.

Using Float Tube

There are apps that you can use to play YT videos in the background. For instance, Float Tube is easily accessible via the Play Store and you can download it right away.

Of course, the first step is to download the app, then open it. After doing that, you can select a clip that you want to play.

You will notice that your homepage will contain a floating screen. This screen will allow you to access videos in the background even when your screen is locked.

Another useful application that you can check, especially if you want to effortlessly play videos in the background is NewPipe. This third-party app is obtainable from the F-droid marketplace.

First, install NewPipe and open it right away from your device. Then, select a clip you want to play. Explore the screen and you will see the video options.
