Harry Potter Spell Lumos

The Harry Potter spell "Lumos" was seen in both its book and its film adaptation. When someone casts the magical spell, it fascinatingly lights up the tip of the wand.

So, even in dark-pitch locations, a magician would not be completely blind, all thanks to the Lumos magic spell.

But it appears that the Lumos spell transcends to the real world, at least into Apple iPhones.

Harry Potter Spell 'Lumos' on iPhones

As per a news story by LifeStyle Asia, a recent tweet from Uber Facts confirms that the Harry Potter spell "Lumos" could turn on the flagship of your smartphone.

The news outlet notes that when users of iPhones blurted out the word "Lumos," their mobile devices activated their flashlight as if it was a magic wand from Harry Potter.

It is worth noting that iPhone users have to enable their Siri feature to make it work. They also have to tap the Siri app before saying the magic spell.

Does 'Lumos' Also Work on Android?

Unlike the Apple iPhone, there are multiple phone makers with Android smartphones, such as Samsung, OnePlus, and Google.

As such, Android phones actually do not have a general built-in voice assistant.

While most Android phones have Google Assistant as their default virtual assistant, Samsung smartphones have their own Bixby.

To have the "Lumos" spell activated on Android mobile devices, its users have to download and enable Google Assistant.

Once the virtual assistant service of Google is activated, Android phone users could turn on their flashlights using the Harry Potter magic spell.

To turn on the flashlight on an Android device, Potterhead users have to say the hot word "Hey Google" first. After which, it is time to mention the Harry Potter magic spell, "Lumos."

How to Turn Off Flashlight

Now that the flashlight on your smartphone is already turned on, how do you magically switch it off the Potterhead way?

According to a report by The National News, Siri on iPhone also learned another spell straight from Harry Potter - "Nox."

The magic spell "Nox" is a charm that extinguishes the wand. But in the real world, it turns off the flashlight of iPhones.

The National News notes that the "Nox" spell also works for Potterheads with Android phones, thanks to Google Assistant.
