Ford F-150 Lightning
The latest electric vehicle (EV) offering of Ford, its all-new 2022 F-150 Lightning, has entered the tightening EV truck war.
As per a news story by The Verge, the renowned American automaker kicked off its deliveries last May. And the first customer to get his hands on the Ford EV truck is an owner of a Tesla Model 3 sedan from rural Michigan.
Apart from its impressive towing capabilities, the all-electric pickup boasts a remarkable battery range of up to 300 miles.
Ford F-150 Lightning Charging Feature
But aside from doing what a typical pickup truck does, the F-150 Lightning has this so-called bi-directional charging feature, as per a news story by Inside EVs.
The news outlet notes that this charging feature is one of the key selling points of the new electric pickup of the American automaker.
Essentially, the bi-directional charging feature enables the F-150 Lightning to power a house or top up the batteries of other EVs. It could also be used to power up all sorts of electronics, which should be best for outdoor camping adventures.
As such, multiple videos of the F-150 Lightning changing the batteries of other EVs, including a Tesla vehicle, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and another all-electric pickup, the Rivian R1T.

The all-electric F-150 Lightning from Ford is displayed at the Los Angeles Auto Show in Los Angeles, California on November 18, 2021.
It shows that the latest all-electric Ford pickup could recharge all sorts of EVs. The videos online also featured other offerings like the Audi e-Tron.
However, Inside EVs notes in its report that the charging features of Ford draw a single notable problem - its top-up speed is a bit slow.
Thus, the F-150 Lighting seems to be the less efficient route in charging other EVs. Nevertheless, it would be handy when another electric car got stranded miles away from a full-blown charging station.
So, if you are an owner of the electric Ford pickup, don't be surprised to stumble upon a stranded EV driver asking for your assistance.
Ford F-150 Lightning Fully Charged Mini Cooper SE
But this time, the Ford F-150 Lightning went on to fully charge a Mini Cooper SE.
A recent video on YouTube from TFLEV features the electric Ford truck completely topping up the battery of another EV.
It sure seems possible as the electric Mini Cooper only sports a 32.6 kWh battery pack. On the other hand, the Lightning flaunts a 121-kWh.
It took roughly five and a half hours before the Mini Cooper SE got fully charged, eating up 27% of the battery charge of the Lightning.
