Samsung Pay No Longer Works on Non-Samsung Smartphones

Non-Samsung Galaxy phones can access Samsung Pay, but that was before. Now, the said application will no longer work on the said models, according to the recent report.

As many users stated, the popular digital payment service was once available to all users, even those who do not use Galaxy smartphones. However, the company decided to ditch this option and limit its usage exclusively to Samsung flagships.

As Sam Mobile spotted over the Samsung Members forum and Reddit, many non-Samsung users have noticed that there's now an error every time they access the Pay app.

Apparently, the error says that their ID is already invalid. Although it's reasonable to appear, it should not pop out since the application can be used in non-Samsung phones.

Per the customer executives of the company, the officials said that Samsung Pay would not be usable anymore on phones that are not under the Samsung brand.

It should be noted that other Samsung users are also experiencing the same issue, which is very strange. Some individuals who are using Galaxy Watch 4 were complaining about this problem as well.

Since Samsung ditched the Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST), many users have gradually stayed away from Samsung Pay. When this continues, there's a tendency that the South Korean tech giant will lose many customers.

Samsung Pay vs. Google Pay

The age of digital wallets is not something new to our ears. However, it's the period where convenience is all you can get, especially when sending money to your friends, family, and other people.

Contactless payment has been the trend so far. Because of it, many people are engaging in it as they slowly abandon the traditional cash system.

Aside from Samsung Pay, there's another popular digital service in existence. Google Pay is another app that many users use in their transactions.

Speaking of which, the search engine giant has previously named the app Android Pay and Google Wallet. It's simple to use, and you can do it without the need to open the application on your device.

As for Google Pay and Samsung Pay's pros and cons, Tech News Today listed the following.

Google Pay

Pros

  • Can work on Samsung and other smartphone brands
