The Tesla Cybertruck is one of the most popular inventions of Elon Musk. This zero-emission pickup truck made headlines after its iconic endurance test back in 2019.
During this public demonstration, the metal ball used to test the strength of Cybertruck's windshield actually made some huge cracks.
Aside from this funny event, the exterior design of the Tesla electric pickup truck also attracts a lot of drivers. Now, where did Elon Musk get the idea of his popular Cybertruck?
Tesla Cybertruck Inspired by James Bond Submarine Car?
According to SlashGear's latest report, Elon Musk is actually a fan of James Bond, the fictional British spy. His interest in the action film character led to his creation of Tesla Cybertruck.
Specifically, this electric pickup truck was inspired by the submarine car featured in the James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me."
In this 1997 action movie, a modified version of the Lotus Esprit was used. After being featured, the submarine vehicle was named "Wet Nellie."
The customized Lotus Esprit was integrated with functional electric motors, as well as propellers, allowing it actually to work as a mini-submarine.
CNBC reported that Elon previously purchased Wet Nellie for $1 million. Although the billionaire was disappointed that the submarine vehicle didn't actually transform, he still shared his plans with it.
"I was disappointed to learn that it can't actually transform. What I'm going to do is upgrade it with a Tesla electric powertrain and try to make it transform for real," shared Tesla's CEO.
Wet Nellie's Similarity With Cybetruck
Based on the actual design of Wet Nellie and the popular Tesla Cybertruck, both of them are quite different from the usual vehicles marketed.
This is because they don't have round edges. Instead, they have sharp edges. On the other hand, their front parts are also quite long.

On the other hand, a new Tesla Cybertruck prototype was recently spotted.
Meanwhile, the Tesla Cybetruck delayed launch is now expected to take longer.
