Although nearing the end of June, it's still been a while since a massive PS5 restock has braced different online retailers. There are a few techniques buyers can apply on Amazon, Walmart, and other online retailers to help increase their chances of buying the console.
The Global Chip Shortage and Its Effect on the PS5 Supply
Ever since its launch, the PS5 restock has been extremely hard to purchase at SRP due to the limited supply and scalpers buying out all available stocks. After buying out the stocks, scalpers then resell the consoles at higher prices, leaving buyers with no choice aside from either paying the higher price or waiting for their opportunity to buy at SRP.
Another huge issue as to why this has happened is because of the global chip shortage. Because of the lack of supply, it became much easier for buyers to wipe out all available stocks at SRP.
Amazon Prime Day PS5 Restock Expected
According to an article by Tom's Guide, however, the PS5 restock is slowly making a comeback with certain retailers like Amazon accepting registrations for invite-only purchases. It's important to note that Prime Day is expected to start on July 12, which the article notes as having a high chance of buying the console.
Although not guaranteed, there is still a high chance that a PS5 restock could happen on Prime Day since this is a huge day for Amazon, and it wouldn't be complete without one of the hottest consoles in the world. This, however, has not been confirmed, so buyers might still have to prepare for the worst just in case.
Other Retailers Selling the PS5 Restock
Aside from Amazon, there are also a number of other online retailers that have implemented new changes that could help guarantee that new PS5 restocks don't go directly to scalpers but have a chance to fall into the hands of buyers.
Target says that they will no longer be holding restock events "but will instead allow individual stores to sell stock as they get it." The retailer urges buyers to check their nearest location in order to find a PS5 console within their physical stores.
Sony has also launched an invite-only PS5 restock registration for future drops. Sadly, the last drop that Sony did happen way back on April 25, so this might not be a reliable guarantee that buyers are guaranteed to get the console.

Sony Vows to Ramp Up Production for the PS5 Console
According to an article by Engadget, Sony acknowledges the massive demand and limited supply for the PlayStation 5. The company has vowed to increase the production of the PS5 to levels that have never been done before.
As per Sony's estimations, it only takes 82 minutes to sell out 80,000 PS5 units. When it comes to the PS4, it takes nine days to sell the same number.
