When it comes to NFTs, a lot of people have been seeing an increase in cartoon characters, but it's hard to expect that the sharks from Baby Sharks could land in a collection. The owner of Baby Shark has announced that they are launching "Baby Shark: Collection No. 2," which is an NFT collection.
Baby Shark NFT Collection Launches with 10,000 Collectibles
According to the story by The Verge, the Baby Shark NFT collection includes 10,000 variations of the popular baby shark and the rest of the shark family. The writer of the report noted two important things regarding the NFT collection.
The report highlights the questions of who will buy the NFTs and was there really a first collection. Apparently, there was already a first NFT collection that was announced in 2021, but it sold out completely right away.
Initial Collection Sold Out in 2021
The article notes that thousands of dollars were spent on the initial Baby Shark NFT collection in 2021. As per NonFungible's market tracker, the sold-out Baby Shark NFT incident took place right before the market started to decline.
This means that although there isn't much interest in NFTs anymore, there are still some people out there that are holding the initial Baby Shark NFT collection. Although a bit peculiar, there is actually a good reason why the Baby Shark NFT collection is so interesting.
What Makes Baby Shark a Big Deal?
The first reason is that the Baby Shark video on YouTube, which was launched on June 18, 2016, already has almost 11 billion views. The two-minute-long song on YouTube also has 35 million likes, with the Pinkfong Baby Shark channel having 58.3 million subscribers.
When it comes to making NFT collections out of significant videos on the internet, Baby Shark, although a children's video, remains the most popular YouTube video of all time on YouTube. As per Statista, the Baby Shark Dance has dominated YouTube based on global views, with Justin Beiber's Despacito in second place.

Baby Shark Event in Austin, Texas
There is also going to be a Baby Shark party in Austin where hodlers are invited to join. The event will happen on June 20 from 7 PM to 1:30 AM. Although Baby Shark is a children's video, the event's time is set a little past bedtime for some of the young Baby Shark fans.
As per the event's poster on Twitter, there will be aerialists and surprise acts, including special guest DJs, so the event might not be for children. The event is actually designed to cater more towards the people that are holding the Baby Shark NFT instead of kids that are watching the video.
