Ride-hailing company Uber is focusing on its airport rides as more people travel again after the pandemic.

The company's airport reservation service called Uber Reserve helps passengers get picked up easily at airports, and they can book the service in advance to ensure they won't be late for their flight.

Uber Reserve Feature is Expanding

Launched in November 20202, the service is currently available in 39 airports across the United States and 55 airports around the world, according to Engadget.

Passengers can choose between Uber Black, a 4-seater vehicle, and Uber Black SUV, which is good for five to six people.

Those who need to be picked up from the airport can book the Uber vehicle 30 days in advance.

Uber Reserve can also track your flight information, so it can adjust the pickup time in case your flight gets delayed.

Drivers can also wait for you for an hour without any charge, giving you enough time to get your luggage.

You will be informed about the fee in advance, too, so you can prepare the exact change before your ride. The driver will pick you up at the curb, so you won't have to carry our heavy luggage around.

Airports Where Uber Reserve is Available

The Uber Reserve airport service is now available in Austin, Burbank, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Milwaukee, Montreal, Oakland, Orange Country, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, and Tampa Bay.

For those who travel abroad, you can use the service in Cape Town, Vancouver, Johannesburg, Milan, Paris, Nice, and Rome.

Other Features

Uber has also launched a feature called Ready When You Are that lets passengers choose their preferred pickup timing options. You can request 10 minutes out, 20 minutes out, or as soon as possible.

This feature is available in the Uber app on Android, and it can be used at six airports: New Orleans, Nashville, Portland, Philadelphia, Toronto Pearson, and Seattle. The Uber app on iOS will get the update in November, according to USA Today.

Aside from Uber vehicles, passengers who wish to get a bite to eat can use Uber Eats' new feature. The feature will allow you to order food in advance in airport restaurants so you won't have to wait in line.

More Drivers are Hitting the Road

The rollout of new features and the expansion of the current ones came after The Points Guy reported that Uber drivers are now hitting the road again after two years, despite the increasing gas prices.

Since the pandemic, passengers reported long wait times and high prices due to the lack of Uber drivers.

But in May, Uber reported that it had 78% more drivers on the road. Meanwhile, Lyft reported 40% more drivers during the first three months of 2022 compared to the first three months of 2021.
