Instagram users are reporting a bug where they have started seeing repeating Stories. Meta has said that they are now aware of the bug and that they are working on a fix for its users.
Instagram Stories Misbehave Leading Users to See Repeat Stories
According to the story by The Verge, a lot of users have started reporting that their Instagram Stories are now misbehaving. This resulted in Instagram users having a hard time finding new stories.
After word got out regarding the issue, a number of Reddit users started reporting that they have also experienced the same thing. Although the scope of the problem has not yet been revealed, more and more affected users are coming forward.
Meta's Response Towards the Issue
Christine Pai, a spokesperson at Meta, told The Verge in an email that they are aware of the current problem being experienced by their users regarding having a hard time accessing Instagram stories. As per Pai, Instagram is now looking to get things back to normal as fast as they can.
Pai also apologized to users due to the inconvenience they have experienced especially when trying to look for new Stories. The root of the issue, as described by The Verge, seems like Instagram doesn't record or remember which Stories have users seen before.
How are Instagram Stories Supposed to Perform
Since Instagram doesn't remember which Stories were seen, users might experience a repeat of certain Stories having to view them again when looking for something new. The main function of Stories is for users to see them once and then move on to the next one.
As per The Verge, the problem is that in order to look for new Stories, users will have to revisit the ones they've already seen and the problem also happens whenever a new post pops up whenever a new story is added.
More People Start to Report They've Experienced the Same Problem
The complaints were echoed on Twitter with more people testing out whether they have experienced the same bug on their Instagram Stories. As of press time, the company is still working on a fix.

Reports of the issue, however, have been piling on as more and more people come forward saying they have experienced the same thing when it came to their Instagram Stories.
