Twins in the distant future may be a thing soon because researchers predict that it is possible to design software that may act or behave like one's own likeness as part of society's progression. It may sound like an episode of Netflix's "Black Mirror," particularly Season 2's first episode, "Be Right Back," where a person copes with the death of her partner through an AI bot.
Digital Twins: Is it the Future of Human Life for Future Ventures?
A report by BBC News talks about new research regarding the progression of human lives, but into a digital twin that may soon be available as presented by a study that centers on it. Imagine walking up to a system or robot that mirrors your actions or is similar to one's likeness, something that researchers call a "digital twin."
The research published in Research Gate's publication entitled "Digital Twin: Origin to Future" came from a group of scholars that looked into the possibility of creating a program that will identify itself as a person. What is more is that it will try and replicate a person from their behavior, antics, and other distinctions that make their identity.
Researchers Say It is Possible to Have a Digital Twin Soon
The research thinks that it may come soon in the next decade and will focus on giving the world a mirror to itself, complete with everything that it requires to make a digital twin. Athlone Institute of Technology and University of Limerick researchers brought the world a chance to center on AI and robots to help give them a mirror version of themselves.
AI and Bots: Replicating Humans?
Naturally-made humans are hard to replicate on their own, as there are different gene sequences and possibilities that will make a person stand out against others, and it proves to be the marvel of human life. No other person is the same, as there are various ways of their growth, influenced by external factors that influence their identity.
Many AIs can identify the many features of a person through the technology that it brings to the public, correctly identifying it using the development made by researchers to the system. It can identify a human race and look into x-rays or CT scans that help distinguish it from a medical record.
With these present AIs available to the world, it is possible to replicate humans through deep learning and many current technologies for researchers and their programs.
Digital Twins may be a long shot now. Still, it is not impossible or unattainable with the technology that the world possesses now, especially with its highly-advanced AIs that help different ventures now. Replicating a person is done through AI assistants already, proving to be interactive in terms of the features available.
Making one that brings the likeness of a person is a massive study that aims to replicate a person for the future.
